During a visit to the CTE, together with Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ramiro Valdes, Arronte noted that although the turbo-generator did not have significant damage to its physical structure, due to the fire that occurred earlier this month, it has undergone an arduous and complex recovery process.

According to the minister’s explanation, it is necessary to dismantle the boiler, lighten the weights; repair or replace the affected parts and then reassemble; an operation that will be carried out in a controlled environment and includes a residual life study with metallographic analysis.

Regarding how long the work will take, Arronte pointed out that there is still no exact date, due to the complexity of the operations; however, he highlighted the priority of these actions, which involve several companies, agencies and ministries.

Known as the Felton thermoelectric plant, this CTE has two thermal units: Number One with an installed capacity of 260 MW and Number Two with 250 MW, in addition to a generator set location in the Moa municipality.

Precisely, Unit Two was affected by a fire on July 8, during the tests prior to its full commissioning after 129 days of maintenance.
