Peltier Thermoelectric series precision coolers

Suitable for harsh environments such as mining, the Peltier Thermoelectric series of precision coolers are designed to keep enclosed electronics cool and working to optimum performance. Thermoelectric elements create a temperature differential between ambient and internal heat sinks. This encourages an internal cool air circuit while fans help transfer convective heat to atmosphere. The thermal products from Seifert Systems Australia offer thermal products with cooling capacities ranging from 30 to up to 800 W. These units are available in stainless steel 304 or 316.

The smaller units are wired to ‘on’, with the fans working 24/7. The option to introduce a thermostat then regulates the units on/off according to temperature changes, thus extending the life of the fans. The larger units have a temperature set controller built in. They are also resistant to extreme ambient conditions and operate well in dusty, oily environments where temperatures can vary from -20 to +65°C. These units are available in 12, 24 and 48 VDC and 120–240 VAC.

The external fans on these units are rated to IP68. However, the units as a whole are rated to IP66, and are suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. Multiple Peltier units can be installed in side mount orientation only; top mounting is to be avoided, as this can promote condensation. However, condensation drip trays are also available.

Seifert continues to supply these units side mounted to enclosures located at underground mine sites in South Australia. The units are performing and the equipment is operating as expected, in hazardous and dirty environments. The photograph shows the TG-3200 200 W 48 VDC unit with external mounting frame fitted to an IP66 rated MFB that is Australian made with a stainless steel enclosure.
